I admittedly know nothing about this species. The article says they're a warm water species that is rarely caught in California. What does it mean...? :jawdrop

They're not common.....but I'd say rare is an overstatement.

Even in pictures I've never seen any that big, ate a fair amount in Hawaii (from a local fish market),  very good on the grill.

Those are huge and to be able to score 3 on a single boat?!

We were fishing out of GG a couple of years ago when a hanging clone 60' down was hit. We were ragging on our buddy Mitchell for taking so long to land a tuna. Next thing you know he's horsing that thing in and I'm surprised that the line didn't break!

Tree huggers are going nuts on the blog because the author of the story used that bad word "rare." My goodness they show their ignorance quickly and have no clue since none of them have ever been out on the big blue and have a clue on how well of conservationist we sports fishermen are. We just don't fish for fun we fish for food. Sure wish they knew where their food actually came from
