Nice story.  I have a gold 4-piece Eagle Claw rod, probably similar to the one in the story.  It's ~25 years old.  Haven't broken that rod out in probably over 10 years.  But oh the memories ... it went with me on a 5 week road trip to Alaska.; it's been packed into the WA Cascades, the CA Sierra, all over New Mexico, Yellowstone, even on a camping trip to Catalina.  It's landed a lot of fish for me.
