Hi all,

I have a lowrance transducer. It is slightly too big on the edges, so sometimes it gets caught when loading and unloading my kayak. I want to put something over it like a "hill" to let stuff slide past it rather than get caught.

I have a 6" sample from Keel-Easy and was wondering if I could put it on my transducer. Not the whole thing, just cover maybe 1/2" of it.

I'm concerned it will affect it's operation, but on the other hand if it can be mounted thru-hull I don't see why it would.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Predator 13, no pics yet because I broke the all thread and need to go get a replacement.

This is someone else's picture not mine, and mine is mounted differently. But to give an idea:

You see how it's slightly above the hull? Sometimes things hit it and gets snagged. It makes unloading/loading tricky at times.

So I want to put Keel-Easy on the hull, overlapping the edge of the transducer so that there's no gap in which things get snagged, it'll just slide over the keel-easy. But I don't know if the keel-easy would interfere with Transducer operation.

Thanks!

Probably best to run the keel-easy wider then the hole of the transducer so it's somewhat sits flushed with the hull. If you can space the transducer with the hull so it's flushed with the edge if the hull, that would be ideal. I don't see a problem using the keel-easy if it's made from plastic. Since my hobie has that kind of PVC protective shield for the transducer also.  The keel easy seems really expensive for a thermo plastic with 3M double sided stick tape. Personally I would just get some polycarbonate square sheet (the throw away bin from TAP Plastics) heat it up with a heat gun & shape it to the hull . And stick the 3M tape on the backside. Place it and be done.

I have a free 6" sample, so it's the cheapest solution I had and the least complicated. Unfortunately there's no way to relocate the transducer without a major project. The 83/200 that comes with the Elite 4 is much larger than the space is intended for.
