Heavy fog with a sporadic, large South swell made for an interesting day. Steady RF action, some decent Reds, but no ling love for me today...

Hectic landing with those freak South enhanced breakers and about 200 feet of visibility but I finally made it in without mishap after one aborted attempt. Good times.

This morning you were out of sight of land before you pass the outside breakers... Which is what made the timing of the paddle-in problematic later on.

For the most part I can recognize the big kelp mats out there and navigate accordingly, but I do have a compass for backup. No gps. I am considering the purchase soon though; it would sure make finding those fishin’ holes a lot easier.
