Hi guys!

I'm excited to be putting an Elite 4 HDI on my yak!  I'm stumped by the NMEA cable though...  what do I do with it?  And assuming it's not used, what's the best way to take care of it or get rid of it?

A very reputable source told me Tuesday that is for a marine radio and really has no purpose on a kayak and it should be left disconnected.  The source can chime in with more I'm sure.

I just got my elite 4 HDI yesterday. I'm just gonna put a piece of heat shrink over the ends and keep the cable coiled up with a zip tie.

Get it all resolved before Sunday!
1st Place in a private tournament I did not invite anyone else to be in. (and I barely squeaked out a victory)

I cut mine to be about 4" long, put a dab of dielectric grease in the end of the wires & heat shrink it shut.  Only used to transfer GPS waypoints between the GPS & a fixed mount vhf radio.  If you leave about 4" on there, you could always splice onto it later for boat use or something.

Thanks Bill!  Glad to hear it from you that it's OK to cut it.  I figured as much but didn't want to do it then regret it later.

HereFishyFishy, it will be ready!
