Radio Questions???

I need to get a radio so that I can get swell forcasts, and also one that has emergency capabilities... Can anyone point me in the right direction?  After reading a few stories that have been posted in the last couple of days, I don't want to go out in the Kayak without one!     Please let me know which kind would be the best and where I might find one.

I, like Mooch and KZReelRods, use a Uniden Voyager, albeit on a J-24... tends to be a little less wet, though not by much.  Good unit... would serve you well.  I'll have another as soon as I "yak up"!

We are very happy with it.

Something to think about is how you will carry it.  We each have ours affixed to our PFD's, up high, near our ear/mouth so that if something goes terribly wrong, we still have a radio.

Hey Guys,

They make a speaker/mic for the Uniden as well... I haven't used it myself (I'll be getting one soon), but I'm sure it's comparable to the Icom... and WAY cheaper.
