Thanks to Rider, my brother, for hooking me up with m y first kayak. I've been waiting a year for my own, due to shoulder injuries, couldn't get one sooner. The Tarpon140 will be a good first boat for me, and its fun to use. I am looking for ideas on rigging, as this one is completely baron, other than the seat. What is the general consensus on which fish finder works best with through the hull type transducers????? I am building a custom rod pod/tacklepod for the rear, will post picks when complete, and plans if any interest. Thanks for any help/ideas, and can't wait to see everyone at the events/meets, and just out fishing for fun!!!!

Welcome to the madness! As long as you get a basic FF (not DSI, Side Scan, etc.) you should be good. Use the search feature and you'll find lots of good answers to all your questions. And I'm sure James can help you a lot also. Rigging is really a personal preference thing. Keep it simple and fish a while before you start drilling holes.

Looking forward to reading some of your reports. Just remember, no pics = didn't happen ;)

Nice thing about the Tarpon is it has the tracks. You don't need to much, if any drilling on it. If you want some pics of my rigging let me know.

Thanks! And I will post pics as I go....I am going to try and not drill holes of possible. I know that may not be possible, but the fewer the better. Does anyone use the Lowrance transducer that fits into a standard scupper hole? Just wondering if it has enough protection from scraping when launching or coming back onto the beach? I can't tell from pics I've seen if it sticks far out of the hole or it mounts pretty close to flush.

Welcome to the insanity bro. I run thescupper hole transducer.itworks well on my ride 135. But my boat has pontoonsso has a channel where my scupper transducerruns. When loading it onto my roof rack bars it has no isuues hitting the barsasit is slightly tucked in. Hope it helps.

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

A rod pod for a Tarpon 140? That I have to see.

a solid choice! I've got an older T140 and it has seen many sea miles.
Only thing about it I don't like is the absence of a rod pod & scupper transducer.

I got around these issues by stowing the rods alongside under the paddle keeper bungies during surf launching/landing and by using a shoot-through-hull setup for the transducer with some duct-seal. i miss getting accurate water temp readings from my FF, but otherwise the transducer works fine.
