Hi from Lincoln - I'm usually out at camp far west lake during the week before the jet skis show up on weekends. I paddle a trident prowler 13. My brother is on here known as the weimarian. I'm heading to fort Bragg this weekend and looking for safe ocean beach to put in and fish without too many sharks if anyone has some suggestions?

Hello neighbor. I'm up the road in Sheridan. I sure hope you are nicer than your brother! Joking of course. Welcome.

The shark thing is really simple. When you get up to fort Bragg and get ready to launch put your index finger in the water. Then stick your index finger in your mouth. If it is salty there is a good chance there may be a shark in the area.

Oh yeah welcome. Are you into the potluck scene as much as Ron is???

J/K love ya Ron.

Albion is the easiest launch I know of up there. Enter in the river and paddle out. No surf to deal with. Big protected bay to get used to the water and the you can move out more as you get used to the motion of the ocean. Give us a report when you return.

Hey Ron,

If the WX holds, I'll be launching at Fort Ross next Thursday around 7am. Your bro is more than welcome to join me. I'll put him on some fish.

Welcome to NCKA!
When I fish out of Fort Bragg I like to launch at Van Damme State Park you can't miss it. It's just south of Mendocino has a nice parking lot and what I think is easy entry to the ocean (depending on the weather).
I'll be up there in a couple of weeks myself.
