Future Kayakers - Our 4-H Project Rocks!

Some of you know that I am volunteer 4-H Leader (and have been for many years)  and that I typically lead projects that teach kids and families about raising chickens. Well this year, I thought it would be very cool to introduce 4-Her's to kayaking 

I approached Dan Arbuckle at Headwaters about helping us and he was game for it  ...so we started with some "on land" meetings and then moved to the water. Dan was fantastic with the kids and kept them engaged, entertained, and excited about learning how to kayak.

We have several who can't wait to hit the water again and do some fishing! These are our future NCKA'ers in the making, haha. 

As a fun thing to present to our 4-H Club, I created a video which highlights some of our project moments so far. I thought some of you guys might enjoy seeing it as well. We have some fundraisers in the works, and who knows - maybe we will have a 4-H fishing tourney!

I grew up in the 4-H culture long before I could join at age 9.  Was an active member all the way thru & still participate in local county fairs and help with the 4-H building at the Santa Cruz County Fair every year.  I was the livestock photograper for Santa Cruz County & San Benito County Fairs for many years.  Trying to get my kids interested now...

Great event!!!  Wish I was closer & I'd help out!

So cool Bill! I was never in 4-H as a kid, so when I had my own family we got really involved. My son is now in college and I am still an active leader - I love it and it's a big part of my life.

Any tips and tricks to photographing chickens??
How old are your kids?
