Twin to mine and at a steal of a price. I know there's a following for these on here. Someone snag this thing and take it to the water!

Nice! Yeah, I have the same sitting on my patio right now. Repainted the hatch covers last night. Replacing the rusted hinges today. Hoping to take it fishing in SC this weekend.

I think Mallotte is still in business out of Sacramento, but they don't make kayaks anymore. I think it's repro jeep and FJ fenders and panels and stuff now. I love the design of these though. Paddle, fish, surf, dive, SUP all in one!

Isao, I was wondering if I'd spot you on here. The Malotte I'm working on is the one you traded me! It's nearly finished and ready for the water. Patched the holes underneath and need to finish sanding them and do some touch up paint.

The topside got a good cleaning/scrubbing. Took a grinder to those rusty hinges and ground the rivets free so I removed all the old metal and replacing them with zinc coated hinges. I'll fill in the holes in the fiberglass and do some touch up there as well.

Re-painted the hatch covers with Rustoleum Colonial Red.

Here it sits as of this morning.

Catch any fish off that downrigger yet?

Sweet! The original hinges were made of plastic and they cracked after about two years. I replaced the hinges back then with back pack strap material. Melted holes through the nylon and used 1/8in aluminum rivets with a washer on each side. I also found a company back in New York that still makes the original SS compression latches. Neilsen Stainless Steel Hardware Company. I bought too many of the latches because you had to buy a minimum order of 150.00 So if you need latches that are original Ill have them in a week. Looks good!

That looks great!
I have not used the DR yet, I am going to save it until I go fish a deep lake for some macks! I got swayed away from the dr in the ocean while fishing around kelp beds due to the high chance of snagging.

When do you think your first trip out will be?

Aloha,

Isao
