Just had to brag a bit...went out shooting with some friends yesterday out at the Oroville outdoor range. They brought their AR-15s...as I dont own an AR-15 (well, not a complete one yet) I brought my Mini-14...its an older Rancher model...not the new ones with the better barrels. Anyway, we hung some 3/8" plate steel (9" x 10") 4' off the ground. The range finder had it marked at 232 yards away. My old Mini-14 managed to find its mark 3 times in a row with open sights...no scope. For the most part it was doing almost as well as the ARs with scopes (well...after I got it dialed in better). Fun times for sure...love hearing that 'clank' a second after you hit the target. Very satisfying!!!

Pretty good for iron sights on a Mini-14!  I had one years ago and it was terrible for throwing casings three or four benches down at the range.  I would always take the furthest bench to the right so I would not pelt anyone with the cases.
The last gun show I went to at Cal Expo there were several vendors with lots of different steel plates in different designs to shoot at.
Fishing is cheaper than therapy!

My mini-14 does the same thing....launches the cases 20+ feet away. Had a guy once repark his truck because of it!
