Eees a big yak with a beeeg engine.
Fished straight out about 2 miles, edge of canyon, 220-350.  When we were in deeper water, we were targeting suspended fish about half way down.  These are usually the bigger ones.   Most fish were not on bottom as u would expect.  Fishfinder was lit up most of the day with clouds of the little buggers.  A good ff helps when looking for the suspended fish.  I use google earth when looking for spots along the canyon to fish.

hey were you at J&D auto today...aka 'gone fishing' in seaside
We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

Nope but I was there Wednesday.  It's my favorite tackle shop in our neck of the woods.

Albycor -

Check it out, you "Are" a "Sand Dab" on your NCKF "status" on this forum, but you are "The Man" when it comes to the SC sand dab.

Good catch! :smt003

Izodout-  thanks for the words.
Unfortunately about 2 years ago, just as I was getting into kayaking and this site,  I blew out my back.  Ended up selling all of my yak gear.  Now I'm stricktly a boater.  Been fishing the Monterey bay for almost 20 years.
Made some good friends on this site and learned a lot so I decided to try and post more and possibly share what little knowledge I have or bite reports.

Went again today.  This is a screen shot showing em suspended 60 ft off the bottom.  At times,  we had em going 150 off the bottom.  Needless to say we caught a few of em.

So I took the day off Friday as I was supposed to work in the backyard with my wife but decided to hit Moss Landing and try my luck with Sand dab again :-)

Got there and met John on the parking lot and had a little chat for a while.

Then I went straight toward the buoy and fish around there in about 250ft of water on the right side. I only caught 2 small ones that I released... I tried different spots and depth but much luck... I did see a few bait balls on my fish finder though.
The wind was picking up and I was a bit cold (need to get proper appropriate layers)... So I got home on time for lunch after having a good time OTW.
