Local Dive Club to feature guest speaker on Current Abalone

Abalone season opens for the year on April 1st and the Redwood Empire Divers have

arranged for a presentation on diver safety and the current abalone regulations at their

April 3rd

 meeting at the Roundtable Pizza on Occidental Rd. The presentation by Joe

Stoffers, full time Salt Point State Parks Lifeguard, will cover tips on how to read the ocean

conditions, common problems that divers experience at Salt Point, staying up to date on

ocean and weather conditions.

 Stoffers came to Salt Point in 2012 after working for ten years in the Monterey area. His

daily work duties include; aquatic safety, law enforcement, emergency medical response,

and park operations. Everyone from experienced divers to first time divers are welcome

and are sure to benefit from the safety tips for staying alert to changing ocean conditions.

The presentation will be held April 3rd at the regular meeting of Redwood Empire Divers, a

Santa Rosa based diving club. The presentation is open to the public and free of charge.

Batt, The Lifeguard is on the jet ski? He is really cool. Last year he followed Raydon and I back to TC when the weather went upside down quickly. He has hung with us quite a bit and is really fond of home made cookies. (no...not the "green" ones).
