A buddy and I are looking into doing a multi-day trip on Lake Powell in our kayaks.  We both have Revos and we both like beer.  So, he wants to tow a very small raft with a cooler and BBQ.  I think that the drag will be much more than he is thinking.

I am considering some sort of ama/aka system (just one) with a trampoline/platform to carry some additional gear.

My questions:
1) How much harder is it to pedal with a single aka?
2) Has anyone tried to pull a raft with a mirage drive?  My internet searches pulled up lots of paddlers complaining of "out-of-sync" tugging, etc. which makes sense but I am not sure that it applies.
3) Has anyone camped/kayak-camped on Powell?  If so, which marina do you recommend and why?
4) I plan to bring some spare parts for the mirage drives.  So far, I am thinking of spare shafts, "fin" rods, and set screws.  Anything else I should consider?

Tow a SUP or windsurf board. Should tow fine.

I would go out of Bullfrog. The water level is too low at Hite, and Wawheep is too crowded. Sometimes it can be very windy. Halls creek is a good area to fish and camp, but you can go up or down lake from Bullfrog. In the spring look for largemouth and big crappie in the backs of canyons. You'll find stripers balled up on your fish finder. They are suicidal. No limit on stripers and they are good size. Lots of smallmouth in the rocks and you can catch channel cats anywhere. There are a lot of walleye too that bite well in the spring. Here is a good resource:  http://www.wayneswords.com/  It has a section with camping tips.

Rob,

We don't have a SUP or windsurf board so that idea is out....which sucks because I threw away my windsurf board years ago and it would have worked great for this.

Thx for the advice.  We are shooting for late May.  Are the stripers all over the lake?  I'd hate to plan a trip up north and hear that they were all south.  Also, if we camped within a few miles of Bullfrog, maybe we could make ice runs each day instead of trying to keep a cooler cold for a week.  Is there a general store within walking distance from a dock?

The link I provided will have updated fishing reports. Check it before you go. I have found stripers everywhere. They are usually abundant.
