Hopefully there will be some near shore salmon to accompany the season. There have been years when most of the fish were offshore beyond kayak range. Last years pattern may not repeat.

Sharky's activities are getting him ready for anywhere. Sixty fathoms plus to three stops deep off Ten Mile beach.

I'm thinking there will be salmon nearshore. There are some 20 inchers puddeling around the  HMB harbour at the moment. Those are "Merva W" fish (Merva W is Mike McHenry's big steel squid slammer that he used to barge the smolts to the pens in the harbour.) Also there are still plenty of squid in the area. Off of Martin's Beach in 70fow our pots are still coming up with up to 300lbs of squid eggs. They are so heavy they are literally stopping the block.

Can't wait for April! Lets fish together this year Sharky.

Sport season opens earlier right? I need to start tying up some fresh rigs myself.

Sports season starts next month. I'm excited and nervous. I have so much boat and paperwork to finish. I just found out that I have a freakin harpoon licence on miss L, complete with "accidental marine mammal injury report" sheet.

Haha I can see it now. "I was out trolling for salmon at deep reef when I saw a swordfish sunning itself and leapt into action with my harpoon. That's when the swordfish accidentally turned into a bull sealion!"
