I just purchased my first kayak, I slightly used Tarpon 100. The guy gave me a brand new paddle, but it is a 220cm and I think I need a 240cm. Anyone interested in a trade? It is a Aqua-Bound sting ray hybrid. Let me know. I would possibly sell it as well so I can buy a different one. I live in Fairfield. -Josh

How tall are you? I have a brand new Bending Branches Angler Ace, retail about $200. It is 230cm. On a 30" boat you should be fine with a 230 or 240. Make offer. I don't need or want yours in trade though.

I am six feet tall. Do you think I would be good with a 230? It seems like you would want it any longer than you need or it will just be in the way.

At 6' in a 30" boat the formulas show either 230-240 depending on your paddling style. High angle or low angle. Most of us in SOT kayaks are more high angle related than low just from the seating height of the SOT. 230 is recommended, but some like 240. If you want to meet me sometime I will bring 220-230-240 paddles and you can try them all to get a feel for what you like. You won't need to open your new paddle so it will stay new. I have plenty of paddles and sizes to try.
