Yak La Paz

  • Guest

I'm looking into buying a kayak and bring it to my place in La Paz. Are there any of you that fish in Baha? I've been reading the posts on this site which is a great help in deciding on my purchase. Based on my observations yak fishing is close to shore, but i saw some some awesome photos from Dennis Spike! Bull Dorado, Sailfish etc...
So far I'm considering the OK Prowler, Tarpon and Marauder.
Thanks in advance, and I got to say it's cool for you veterans to give your knowlege and wisdom to the newbies.

I go down and fish with Spike every year. I use a Prowler here and now that they have updated their kayak fleet, I use the same one down there.

We fish there every year as well.  Go for something relatively fast so you can cover a lot of ground, but also something that can handle the wicked wind chop.  If you want to pedal, for the sustained hi-speed trolling it would be hard to beat something like an Adventure.

Yak La Paz

Thanks for the info. I was scheduled to go to our place in La Paz when the hurricane hit , cancelled and will go the 28 of this month. Haven't had time to look for the Yak yet, I heard there is a paddlefest at the end of the month and I'll be in Baha at that time. Does anyone know of anyother such events?

REI has Paddle Demo days every year in Mountain View - go to REI.com and check out their calendar of events or just show up at any of the NCKA derbys and I'm sure you'll be more than welcome to test paddle any of our kayaks - we truly have a helpful group of folks on this site  :smt002....just keep an eye out for the guy wearing tie dye....he can sometimes talk your ears off with his brewmaster skills and his secret lure - the mighty trix jetty jig  :smt003

Paddlefest at Coyote Point on the 30th....
the major manufactureeres will be there and it's an all-day demo day.

I think one could paddle about anything we'd be intersted in on the 30th.  Hope so.

also, lots of NCKA guys, and a derby...biggest fish wins free trip.
