The forecast for today for Bodega Bay was for very light winds (1kt) in the late morning and fairly light (5kt) in the early afternoon so I went crabbing.  When I launched at about 11 a.m. the wind was onshore about 5kt; higher than predicted but not a problem.  However by about 1 p.m. the wind had increased to at least 15kt so I retrieved my traps and headed for shore.  I was only out about a mile but it was very slow going.  I think I'll start earlier next time even if the forecast is for light afternoon winds.  Several sources predicted light winds but the one I cited is for Doran Beach:  http://www.surfline.com/surf-report/doran-beach-northern-california_5095/
P.S.:  I got 3 male Dungee keepers.

Thanks for the BB crabbing report YaknFish.

Which way did you go to set your pots?  How deep was it?

I set my three rectangular pots (one Danielson and two Promars) about 100 yards beyond the jetty and about 300 yards to the left of it, at about 30-40 feet deep.  I tried my hoop trap farther out but only got short dungees in it.
