Camped out Fri. night Sat. got up and headed down the trail at about 0730 hours. My two buddies and I all got our limit of abs, nothing huge 7 1/2 to 8". At about 1030 we took the yaks out of the cove and headed south towards Still Water. As soon as we stopped paddling we got sucked north hard. We were having trouble keeping out gear on the bottom, and if you tried you would get hung up pretty easy. There were alot of boats out. We had some luck catching some blues. I got one 16" and about 2 lbs. that I released. After about 1300 hours the wind and the current stopped and the ocean glassed off. We caught a few other smaller rock fish, Rosey, stary and gophers. At 1700 when I left the camp ground the wind had not picked up at all and the ocean was still glassy.

I fished that day just north of you out of gerstle cove.  That morning drift was wicked we kept getting hung up and had to keep paddling back to the south.  I saw a guy in a granite colored kayak fishing deep straight out of gerstle cove.  Was that you?

No, we headed south out of Ocean Cove and had the same problem every time we stopped paddling. We were doing 5 knots north bound. I was in a yellow tarpon 140 and my buddie was in a red caper. :smt013
After the wind stopped so did the current.
Maybee we can hook up next time. I will post in the hook ups section. We should be heading out in a couple of weeks.
