I just bought a spirit 120 kayak and want to take it out but before I wanted to know what you guys think. Let me know what to use and/or add to the kayak. Thanks for your help.

welcome to the madness! and congrats on the new yak! check out the board for ideas on rigging but think safety first. I would take the yak out a few times and think about what would work for you and where to put it that fits you before you do anything. What works for one person may not be the best for you! You may also want to attend some of the group tournaments and get to know people. Better yet get involved and volunteer at a few. I have learned so much and continue to learn just by hanging out and helping out at functions. I have always come home with a wealth of knowledge and ideas to put into practice from any hookup or tournament NCKA has! not to mention loads of laughs and great meals  :smt007 Send polepole a message and he'll be glad to hook you up helping on an upcoming event! The more you get involved here the more fun you'll have!
Hope to see you soon;

I'm currently in Santa Cruz. I do have a life jacket and been fishing I before but only a few times out there. I love fishing in the delta when I get a chance. I'm trying to get my kayak up and going but trying to find what mods to put on it.

are you going in fresh water or salt....you may want a bit more kayak before too long...maybe watch rigging this one out with too much $$$...imho....I know that a lot of the stuff I bought in the very begining was wasted money and later I had to buy the right one....just my 2 cents.....it is a learning curve and a fun one so I dont worry about the wasted money I guess,no way around having to go through trial and error....

depends on where you gonna fish....but an ass pad that wont scoot around on you is for sure a good day one item
welcome

MACK! You made it on here finally!

Good to see the pics of the yak. I got some good ideas I think for a custom gear box with a pair of rod holders. Since the lines of the kayak are angular it should be easy to fab up a mount for them. I got wood and fiberglass, you bring the PVC and we can get both yaks up and ready. And by both I now mean all three. (Did a little shopping this morning.)
