Very nice captures of the conditions. Just a comment and a tip on the pictures: in the nice launch picture he was holding his paddle up and across whcih is not good since the wave force might just rip it out of his hands and can take it back in. When you punch through a wave, the recommendation is to lean forward and low and point the paddle at the wave like a spear offering as little resistance as possible to the wave minimizing the chance it will be taken from you. It really sucks to get out throough the wave only to have to go back with no paddle to retrieve it. even if you have a spare (which you _always_ should in the ocean not just for you but to save someone else) you'll still end up going back and recovering your paddle though, with the spare, the chore will go a little easier. Not trying to nit-pick: just sharing what I've learned from some world-class kayak guides in the BCU.

I'll drop by in the wee  hours to meet you guys tommorow. I've fished from the shore at BH for about 3 years now and know the potential there.

Hopefully the south swell won't bother us too much.

good luck eugene, I think you will stick 'em. south south west swell looks like a dud. north-north-west swell will cause you to go up and down a bit outside the cove, but should not get in the cove enough to really mess with launching/landing.

if the 20-40 FOW zone with all the lings and cabs isn't happening try the rubble strewn bottom 60 FOW just north of the beach I think you will catch a few good copper rockfish there with a little patience.

my sonar found a lot of blue/black schools all over, and they were a sure thing if you dropped on top of them, I eventually started to actively avoid them and found the coppers, the cabby, and the halibut. ling came with blue/black school.

if you get too many gophers, skip the bait and go with a decent size lure.

Sunday looks a bit calmer...  3-5 NW and 2 S swells...  I'd be game for Sunday early - 7-ish, if anyone's up for it.   I won't mind getting pushed around landing - seems to happen half the time anyway.    Along with gear, I'd already have plenty of fish stowed by then I hope!
Craig i will be there in the mor.Sun. Rockaway Bill
