Lapu Lapu and I finally got a chance to try and retrieve my crab pots which have been soaking since 11/23/2013; either the weather or our conflicting schedules prevented both of us from going any sooner.

But after a little over 2 months, the bouys were barely able to stay afloat because of all the growth that had accumulated; tons of barnacles, algae and junk covered the top 15'-20' of the line. That coupled with the leaded line and the washing machine seas, made it a real interesting time recovering the 3 pots that we did. All 3 pots were very close to where we had marked/drop them, but I fear the weight on the other 2 pot lines had sunk the bouys. One of the 3 bouys showed signs of compression, due to the constant submersion of it.

We managed to scrap out 10 nice size crabs, but one of the pots had rusted so much that the main door panel, the escape ring and parts of the cage had come part.. allow what crabs there may have been, to escape...

Below are some images of how much crap grows after a short time in the sea...

I'm not to overly bummed about the loss or damage of the Danielson pots, there served me extremely well over the past 8 years!

There wasn't much to crab about.   :smt002  No LapuLapu size 7.5++ in the mix.

A few zip ties and that pot will be as good as new!
