I plan on heading out there tomorrow morn around 8:30ish with a buddy. Company welcome. They are calling for west swell 4-6 feet. Manageable launch. Was down there yesterday walking the beach with the perch rod and it looked doable even with a bigger swell than they are calling for tomorrow.

I'll be on Channel 69 in an urban camo T13.

How did it go?  Is Muir a good place to fish/crab?  I have been wanting to give it a try.

Morning, sorry for late reply, been really busy.

Have not done much fishing at Muir in the kayak, as I just got my boat late summer last year and Muir was closed. I'd suspect there's decent fishing along the north end and south in the rocky areas? I am planning on going after some halibut later this year as it's a sandy bottom there in between. Maybe others who have fished there can chime in.

As far as the crabs, it's hit and miss like everywhere else. When they are in, it can be quite good. Only issue is the launch can be a bit tough with anything other than a NW swell, when the waves are up. With the new parking lot and restoration that went in last year, the walk out to the launch is a bit longer. Bring some good wheels for your yak.

A lot of female crabs out there now. Last weekend I easily tossed back 60-70 undersized and/or females over 5 hours. That was with 2 crab pots and 1 ring. I tend to check my pots every hour or so, they can fill up quickly out there.

Shoot me a PM if you want more details. I'll probably be heading out there in the next week or two, weather/swell dependent. I'd be happy to have the company.
