Flemmish Cap, epic conditions, water clarity excellent-small surf for a few days.  10-15 K wind.  Usually nonstop Blues, Olives & Gophers in the kelp or along outside edge when the surf is small.  If water is clear Lings & Reds are practically wide open 50-100 yds outside kelp.

Fished 50 yds outside kelp within an hour and a half had 4 Lings (30", 28", 26"ish & 24") kept the 30" & 28".  Also got a 18" Vermillion.  Did my usual paddle fish combo-wedge my rod between my legs & paddle to stay in place w/ the wind.  The 30" Ling was very reluctant to come off the bottom.  Ran/dove 3x with his last one being around a 50 foot dive after he saw me in my yak. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.  Fished the Cap a week ago Thurs & hooked a lunker that did the same thing but popped off when i tightened my drag.  Lesson learned-this time let the drag almost as loose as can go & took my time-boated all 4 Lings.

Used a darkgreen to lime fishtrap on a 1.5oz leadhead, people have told me to throw squid strips on there-I never have needed to @ the Caps' fruitfull grounds.  Typical tactics are paddle to a spot, drop it down to the bottom & bring it back up twice.  If I don't get a fish on the 1st or 2nd drop I paddel to another spot.  More often than not I find a spot where I get a fish at least every other drop.

Pics attached from today & another recent day; 8-9-26 & my magic fishtrap which I've found to be the best.

WTG on the lings.  I also love those FT swimbaits but I've never tried the color you posted.  Going to have to see if I can get some of those.  Where is Flemmish Cap?  I've heard of, of course, the Flemmish Cap in the Atlantic . .but think that is outside of paddle distance for most of us.
Fishing is cool

I'll give ya 2 clues where it is.  The "Fish-N-Map Co." map says it's the “considered by many to have the best rockfish and lingcod fishing in California”.  & it's in a future MPA.  Sometimes I believe the quote on the map when I have days like today.
