Due to a death in the family I will be missing the Crabfest.  Jan lost her uncle and the services are coming up Friday.  He was 91, a WWII survior, played for the Cal Bears when they were a good team, he graduated the year before they won their only national championship.  He had a chance to play for a Pro football but turned it down to Coach College at the College of Marin, which the field is named after him.  He always put the students education need above that of the sport, something that is lacking intodays collegiate programs.   He was good with his hands, built two homes from scratch, avid fisherman, and down right nice guy. He and I shared a unique bond, as we were both Veterans of the 42nd Infantry Divison, he from WWII and I from being attached to them in Iraq.  I would feel like a heel going crabbing for a couple of days while Jan is at home getting over this alone. Please accept my apologies for not being there.

Kevin - sorry for your and your wife's loss.  You have honored Jan's uncle with your words here.  You're a damn good man.  My best to you.   :smt001

Sounds like a wonderful life to be celebrated while mourning.  While I never met the man, I certainly know his peers. I am proud to live in the country that he fought for, taught in, and lived out his days in. They truly are the greatest generation.

When we make plans to attend an event, we do so with the sole intention to spend time with good friends and enjoy much needed time on the water.

One can never anticipate what life-changing events can transpire between the moment we make the plan, to the actual day of the event; and as such do not make plans with the intention of not going.

Thou you will be missed at the Crabfest, we all fully understand the need for you to be at your wife's side during her time of need.

Our thoughts and prayer's are with you, your wife and your family...

Take care bro! we'll see you at the next event, hookup or 'chill...
