For me it's about being in nature, I know I'm going to catch fish. It doesn't matter if I don't. I just want to be on the water. It's very Zen for me, gives me power, gives me serenity, gives me strength.

Love it.   :smt001

Being an honorable sportsman is way more important than what you catch.

Relentless perseverance and being too dumb to know when to stop.
Knowing the only way to get out of a fishing slump is fishing your way out of it (and growing a beard)....

I'm screwed!!!! I can't grow a beard!!! Only about 50 hairs sprouting there! Research and getting out there seem to be the key factors for most... Google earth and reports from places I don't know seem to help... Then, bringing so many lures to through out that it is like a 12 gauge, your bound to excite something... Still looking for my personal Mojo... I hope the search takes years and years on the water...
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

There's nothing lucky about beards! The key to good luck is to figure out which birthmark on your face can grow hair, then shave as you normally would except for that hairy mole. Once you have three inches of hair (even if it's only one strand) you're ready to try your luck. When you have a 6" mole-hair, fish will jump into your boat. :smt044

I am far from a fish whisperer but my father (90 yo) is.  I was down visiting him in SoCal this weekend and he was telling me about going fishing on the party boats in the '50's and getting the jackpot every second time he went out.  All day boats cost $1.50 to go on back then and you would come home with full sacks.
Whenever I went fishing with my father he would catch fish when no one else did whether it was trout, salmon, steelhead, bass, or salt water.  I asked him this weekend what his secret was and he said " I don't know, just lucky I guess"
"Pedo Viejo" is what Antonio called me.
