Launched out of Konocti, first light. Meandered south, noticed many birds. Got closer and noticed busting fish. Upon closer inspection found vast areas of shad, many swimming in a daze. I get a twinkle in my eye, my fisheye.
The routine was to scoop up, by hand, the largest, livliest shad I could pick out of the hundreds of others, impale him on a mosquito hook, and drift him in the general area till BENDO!
Total tally, 3 over 3 lbs, 12 others, one nice one broken off, and one 6 lbs kitty.
I even had my MissionFish attacked as it hung off the side of my 'yak.
I'm tired now, but someone's got to do it.
Just warming up for BMII.

Shad were doing the same thing at Rodman Slough last weekend, dazed and confused like my kids on their first day of school Tuesday.  Good job on the bass!  I was just top water froggin around Tule Island and didn't get a rise.  I asked a guy at Oudoor Pro Shop in Rohnert Park (Scott), who fishes CL a lot in tournaments about the retrieve.  SUPER SLOW most of the time, but sometimes they'll take a little quicker retrieve.  I'm still trying to get the hang of it.

 Way to go mako,
glad that you were able to get in on the action while its hot. Did you get the kitty on the live bait as well?
Im going to fish jago bay, leaving from Richmund Park and heading east, tommorrow evening around 5:30 till 9ish.
Hoping that this frenzy will last long enough for a few more adventures.

Yeah, got the catfish on live shad too. I saw larger catfish busting on the shad, no mistaking the tail.
Didn't someone say they might go tomorrow? I might also, pretty sure I will, want to find Richmund.
Man, all those diving birds are gonna' get fat, not to mention the fish.
Fish-on!
