I installed a Scotty flush mount opposite the water bottle holder behind the seat. I assume others have done this, but I couldn't track down any pictures online, so I figured it might be worth posting.

The first picture is a front view with no seat or rod holder.

The second picture is from the inside. That's a scrap piece of 1/4 inch "starboard" that I picked up from Tap Plastic for $1. If you're not familiar with "starboard", it's designed for marine applications and is essentially the same stuff as a plastic cutting board. I used a heat gun and shaped it to fit the curvature.

The third picture is from the back with the seat and a rod holder in place.

It's rock solid, and I find it's a convenient location for a rod. While you might think the rod holder would interfere with the seat (or vice-versa), actually it doesn't seem to get in the way at all when I use it. The only caveat is that it's a very long reach from the center hatch, so be sure you'll be able to get the nuts on the bolts before you drill that big hole...

I don't like stuff that sucks.

I have a Ram Mount on the same spot on my Adventure. I only really put it on if I plan serious trolling. Works pretty good. It took me a few tries to get comfortable reaching behind me to access the rod, but now I'm pretty proficient at it. Should be much easier to grab the rod from a " rocket launcher " style holder like yours. Nice work. You'll like it there.

Now that I've had a chance to use it a couple of times, I thought I'd add a quick comment. I like it much better than the forward mounts---it's easier and quicker to access. And best of all, it makes a great arm rest...

You'll also find that, as you sit side-saddle in the yak, it is among the best of placements for rock fishing.

I have a ram tube mounted on both sides back there. They fit right at the end of your hands for easy reach.  Instead of nuts on the bottom, I heat thread inserts and press them into the plastic. That way you don't have to hold them in place when you mount it.

Nice OP, I'm thinking of doing the same thing on my new Revo 13.

Nice, I think this might be a good place to set ups go pro mount as well, so it can look forward and over your shoulder.  I have to try it on my adventure.

I haven't tried mounting the GoPro there yet, but that is a good idea. So far, I've always mounted my GoPro in the mast slot, attached to a piece of 3/4" pvc. It removes easily for underwater shots, although it is a bit of reach than I'd like to turn it on/off.

Speaking of GoPro mounts, I just picked up the head mount for $6.99 (free shipping):

I haven't tried it yet, but it should give the ultimate first-person perspective.

I've got to thank you for posting this idea.  I have owned this Go Pro for two years and have hardly used it because I just couldn't come up with a good place to mount it.  The head strap just doesn't work for me!  My Adventure is an '08 and unlike yours there is a 1" deep V shaped channel next to the gunwale, so I had to change the orientation of the flush mount.  It may be visible in some of the picts.  I "star riveted" this on because I just plan on using it for the Go Pro, not as a rod holder.  I was able to reach back far enough for bolts as long as I kept the yak in my wall mount straps about chest high on the wall, otherwise my arms are way too short, anyway I went with the rivets in this case.  Thanks again, I can't wait to see if this is viable.  Not sure if Picts attached, if not will try again.
