Ha Ha I knew I fried too many brain cells - no memory left, 70's thru 90's hammered me.
I looked, but I could not find my yellow "Sports" cassette Walkman anywhere

Haha the yellow Sony was top of the line.

Only time I play tunes is on iPhone in a life proof in my pfd pocket when I'm flying solo  and either long lining or paddling to the fishing grounds. Never when I'm with my bros or fishing close to the yak.

I listen to the sounds of nature while in nature and save the tunes for pre&post launchings.

I got this at Costco recently. Its bluetooth capable, waterproof, rechargeable battery, 10+hrs of playtime and it floats. Pretty happy with it.

I like silence when I'm fishing.  That way i can hear bait fleeing trout, and greebs calling and the plip plip plip of water as it drips from the paddle blade...

lots of quiet time out there for me too...nature and stuff splashing...but once in a while I can enjoy a show or news or a few songs in route to the next spot...both are nice...as far as playing it too loud around others...I turn it way down or off if anyone comes around....car talk show...while fishing is awesome
