I paddled on Lake Berryessa for the first time today.  I launched from the public ramp at Capell Cove in the afternoon.  There was very little breeze so Capell Cove was almost like glass (see photo 1).  I trolled an Apex behind a Shasta Slingblade and a Double Six diver.  Out on the main body of the lake the wind intermittently came up a little but was generally very light or calm (see photos 2 and 3).  Except for about a half dozen pbs that didn’t slow down as they passed me I had the lake to myself and it was very quiet most of the time.  I saw several birds including a loon that called.  I started back just before sunset (see photos 4 and 5).  I trolled about halfway back then hauled in my rig because I didn’t want to deal with a fish in the dark.  I had enough light because the moon was over half full.  I had my headlamp but I didn’t need it until I was loading up.  I got no bites but I had a great time anyway.

Thanks for the report and great photos!

Sometimes it's best when the fish aren't biting to keep that sense of serenity with nature.

Hope you stopped at the Turtle Rock Bar for a beer and egg rolls.

Good to hear that Capell Cove launch is  up and running in the low water.

The old river channel drop off to the left of that point in the first photo can be good for trout.

I would also enjoy a day like that and judge it to be a success.

Thanks for the report!

How deep were you fishing?

I don't have a line counting reel but I estimated that I started out at about 30 feet deep and went down to about 50 feet when I got to the deeper part of the lake.

Very nice dude. Thanks for the report. A worm behind a dodger has been good to me in the past. Trolled very very slowly.
