Hi my name is Donnie, I have been fishing virtually my whole life and have been fishing out of a kayak for a few years and recently bought myself a Hobie pro angler with intentions to spend some more time on the salt. I spend my Summers running a boat in Homer Alaska and the Fall guiding Elk hunts in Colorado so I miss a bunch of prime kayak season in California. Anyone know of any good winter time yak fishing in CA? I just got home and am dying to set the hook!

Welcome to the group.
There's a few more days of Sonoma coast rockfish, Sturgeon all winter long, trout in the lakes and steelhead in the rivers.  If your as patient as a steelhead angler, there's bass in clearlake too.
Less Mental than before, Still savage AF tho <3

Hi Donnie,

Welcome! Depending what kind of game your looking for. Rock cod in the ocean but seasons almost over. still could get sandabs all year round. But you probably won't have to much fun with those tinny lookalike Halibut…You run a Halibut boat out of Homer? :smt006
Again, welcome!

Alex

Ya I run a multi species charter for halibut, rock fish, ling cod, and salmon when they are around. Thinking about heading to San Pablo Bay this week and trying to get a sturgeon, any tips on how to measure them in the kayak?
