Newbie with kayak size question

I was recommended to purchase a kayak in between 12 and 14 feet. I was wondering if an xfactor 14 is too big for someone of my stature. I'm 23 years old 5'7 145 pounds and in decent shape. Im worried that this boat may be too big for me. Thanks, Matt.

It might be a bit big, Matt.  I'm 6'/188# and love my X-Factors, but it's a lot of boat and known as a big guy boat.  You may want to try something along the lines of a P13, Scupper Pro, T140...etc.

My wife paddles a Tarpon 160 with rudder and loves it. She is 5'10" and 150ish and has no problem handling it. I prefer longer  boats because they are easier to paddle and you will use less energy to move them all day long.  Also,get the lightest paddle you can afford. 10 ounces does not sound like much, but think of it this way. If you take 1000 strokes in a day, that 10 oz equals 625 pounds of extra weight moved during that day.
