Had family issues to take care of in Sacramento on Saturday - I took my yak with me and decided to stay over a friends place in Roseville on Sunday. We headed to Lake Clementine near Auburn at noon and paddled around for 4 hours.

From the Dam spillway, we paddled 3 miles to the boat-in camp grounds. On the way, I trolled my favorite "secret lure" = the mighty shad rap and hooked up with a nice scrappy small mouth. My buddy Jared and his wife Laura are now kayak fishing converts  :smt002

The lake is narrow but deep - water temp was 56 degrees - the boat-in campgrounds are really nice! The lake looks similar to Loch lomand. Defintely a place I'd like to paddle, camp and fish sometime soon!  :smt023  :smt023  :smt023

Next time give me a call. I was up in folsom too. In a couple weeks the american shad will be running in the american river. Then towards the end of the shad run, I like to drift down the river with a live shad for some 20-30lb bucket mouth stripers! Slow fishing....but BIG FISHING.

I'll definitely let you know next time! My friend Jared is a newbie - if you feel the need to take him under your wings - please do, he's got a great attitude - He just moved Roseville is always looking for someone to kayak fish with. I'll be making more trips up there soon - so I'll be in touch!  :smt002
