Just about completed my new kayak trailer.  Still have a few NCKA stickers to put on it.
I already have plans for another design, but this will fit the bill in the meantime.
The height of the racks is adjustable and the cross bars are easily removeable. I needed it to be this low so I can keep my yaks on it and still  clear the opening to my workshop where I will store it. I can raise the racks to haul  things like bikes along with the yaks.
It holds my Prowler 15, Scupper Pro TW, Tarpon 160 and Prowler13. The front and rear gate can also extend and lay flat giving me room in the bed for 2 more yaks if necessary.

My other trailer is still for sale. Shouldn't be long before the season is upon us and someone snags it.

Nice,

Is that a modified version of the  trailer they sell at Home Chepo ?   Looks like A great quad trailer too...

Nice trailer Mike. Room for 4 yaks and plenty of storage.
I'd like to move up to something like that.

 WOW!
That makes me moist just looking at it!
More details please, also what kinda modifications you see for your next design.
By the way, have your stocks gone public yet? I think you have a good grip on what a yak camper needs.
Once again rigging is the mother of invention!
 Thanks

I was in Adventure Sports last summer and they had a kayak trailer in there for sale. $4100!!!
It was the EXACT same trailer as this one but with an aluminum rack mounted on the inside with a luggage carrier on top of the rack. It held 2-4 kayaks on the outside of the racks. The idea was ok. but the price was outrageous.
So I got the trailer at Home Depot, bought some steel and started cutting and welding and drilling and bolting.
It was kind of a 'design as you go' project as not all my ideas were going to work with this trailer.
I did have to make my own mounting brackets for the hullraisers. The design on these worked great.
I also had to do a little sewing. I wanted an easy way to tie these things down. I used 2" metal rings and sewed nylon webbing to these. These are between each kayak so I can run one strap through each ring , pull tight and they secure each kayak to the cradle. Something better seen than described.
The crossbars have a removeable pin on each end. Pull the pin out on each side and the bars can be raised in 6" increments.
I can take the vertical bars out if I need to with the removal of 2 bolts each. Not sure how often this will need to happen though.
I will keep my next design a secret as I have a LOT of R&D to do for it. If it comes out as I think, you might see it marketed. Free plans to NCKA members of course!

They were showing that trailer at the ISE show either last year or 2004.  They packaged it with a bunch of outdoor equipment, camping stuff, and kayak stuff (SOTs) for some outrageous price...  Great idea for a trailer, though.

Very cool.  I'm going to troll pick-n-pull for a trailer hitch for my van so I can do the same.  Not very efficient having a 7 seat vehicle when I can only carry 2 kayaks...

Wow. I want one...
Awesome job Tote!
A trailer for yaks & gear has always been on my "someday" list of things to get around to. Yours turned out great.

Just saw your design. Sweet!
I was thinking about one of these but decided not to purchase because it offers no additional storage capability: http://kayakfishingstuff.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MultiTrailer&Category_Code=trailextrailers
