Went out with FishingAddict on my maiden voyage of my 2014 Hobie Revo. We decided to skip the crab opener to avoid the crowds.
This is just my 3rr time out on a kayak. Got there before sun up and launched out by 745am.
Got to the kelp beds and started fishing, I got my limit by 930am and I was tossing out the smallies.
FishingAddict caught a very nice Verm, I had mostly the blacks and kelpies.
Swells started getting to about 6-7 feet and wind started kicking in so we couldnt get deeper to get the lings, we head back towards the launch area and try our luck there.
Got off the water around 1pm.  I did lose one item because I didn't tie it down. :(
It was great day to break-in my new kayak and gear.

Thanks, everyone. It was a fun fishing day at Carmel. The huge long swells definitely go bigger later in the morning. Good thing I got my limit before that. Hope to go crabbing next.

Right on, those are a couple of respectable stringers there guys. Next time give the lings a shot too, they are in shallow this time of year. I've seen 'em come out of 8 fow around now.

The NOAA point and click weather forecast way off for Sat :smt012.  Prediction was 5 knots all day with 6 ft waves every 15 seconds.  By 10 AM it was blowing a steady 15 knots with a good 6 ft. waves rolling in at a steady pace.  Our Hobie's handled the conditions without a hitch.

The fishing was wide open.  Our RF limits came fast and easy.  No ling love for us.  We had to leave our fishing spot because the weather was getting cold and nasty.
Over all a great day.

Its was P-Sherman's first trip on his new Hobie Revo 13.  New drysuit, pfd plus a bunch more new gear.
I keep teasing to get some fish grime on it and he did.  :smt006

JOb well done, John.  :smt001

Outstanding stringers!  How'd the Revo work for you?  I didn't see the Mirage drive but I assume you have it.  Did it do ok in the big stuff?

We took out our Mirage drives while we were in the kelp beds/area.

I had test driven the Outback, too, I did notice the splash in the face that some people had observed when I test drove the Outback a few weeks ago. I like how the Revo handled in the choppy waters and the windy conditions. Definitely glad I upgraded to the Turbo Fins and sailing rudder. Thanks to FishingAddict for spoiling me on his Revo.

Overall, the Revo handled great and like the new Lowrance transducer mounting.
