I heard that if we don't get much rain this year then Lake Mendo will more than likely dry up next year.

This is the lowest it's been since the mid 70's, I believe.

I will be ecstatic when the rain comes, no matter how many end of the year trips it prevents me from taking.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

My money is on a butterfly effect from the Japan earthquake shifting weather patters to the West Coast.  :smt002

Got a heads up the Sac is being cut back even more, flows started dropping last night from 5k cfs and are being taken down to 3700 cfs to try and keep something in Shasta/Trinity.  I have never seen it so low, and a shit load of the salmon redds are high and dry already.  :smt009

Let it snow let it snow let it snow
Yes, yes, yes.  The past two years' snowpacks up here at Lake Almanor were pathetic.  As much as I don't like shoveling my driveway every morning to get to work, I really hope we get a doozy of a winter this year.  Otherwise we're going to be in very big trouble.

Saw on the news;
Since January 1, 2013 to today; 22 days of rain.  The year with least # of rain days was 34 days of rain for the calendar year.  With 45 days to go for the year, and 12 days shy of the record, I'd say we stand a good chance to shatter that record.

It's been tough on duck hunting as well with all the warm AND dry weather, as well as not much wind.

On the bright side, I've been getting outdoors more this fall than I have ever in the past.
