Is that where you park and launch from?

I think Jimbo's point is that "Four Mile" is a bit vague - I couldn't find it on Google unless you mean a State Park in NY...

I've hung out at a place called Four Mile Creek on the north end of the Lost Coast, and it seems like I've heard of a Four Mile Creek in Mendo, but I think that may be Ten Mile Creek.

So where is it that you're going?

PS:  probably helps others if you list your location in your personal info.   :smt001

The 4 mile I'm talking about is located in santa cruz. Basically 4 miles north up hwy 1 from town.

4 Mile Beach search on California Coastal Record website:

http://www.californiacoastline.org/cgi-bin/captionlist.cgi?searchstr=4+mile+beach

Just don't expect to see any signs on Highway 1. Look for a bunch of surfer's cars on a rough dirt pullout a little higher than the highway, and don't get fooled by those at the smaller 3 Mile (not kidding) pullout.

More information than you require: You can actually get to 4 Mile by bicycle/ hiking from Wilder Ranch State Park and taking the beach trail - I think it's called Gray Whale Trail.  A nice ride on a clear day when it's too windy to kayak.

I got up a little late this morning and didn't make it to the parking lot till and launched by 7:30. The conditions were good a little breeze but it kept kicking up and then dying off. I landed 2 keeper lings in less than an hour and had lost 2. Pretty good day for me.

Of course that beer is empty. It's kind of a hike to get to with all the gear plus I bring my surf stuff down too! Makes me real thirsty!
