Went out to tune up my Hobie for Lexington, put a down rigger set up on it. I got at the lake around 6 pm to launch noticed birds working near the opposite shore and headed that way. My FF was reading 90 ft and I was ten turns down with a small spoon and red worm trailer, when bang my little rod started to dance and off we go  :hello2: This fish is off and running turning me every which way. What fun !!! Finally brought in this 20 " gold catfish. I have caught strippers on 9 wt which I must say is probably one of the best fights, but this cat on light tackle was a definite ten. Must have taken me all of 5 minutes to finally get this guy on the stringer the whole time I had this huge smile on my face. Life is Goood....

Awesome.

I got confirmation from another fisherman that there are cats in lexington and I am now pretty convinced that Dan's big fish he lost last weekend was a cat.

I've caught a bunch of catfish drifting for crappie in San Diego.  I hope I get one tomorrow.

so you were going for trout with the spoon and redworm trailer?

I have seen photos of lexington catfish.

Drove by Lex today,
I was amazed to see the lake looking so low today, I guess it is just back to normal after I started fishing it
during the rainy season and it was super full.

I think most of these planters aren't use to the bottom I saw alot of hits on the FF and setting up shallow paid off. I hope we run into more of the same at Lex. Frankfishing

Using an electric powered boat have caught many cats to 7lbs at Quarry Lakes trolling Red, Green rainbow runners using downriggers. Also with nightcrawlers trolled behind a single spinner blade and beads with a tandum hook setup also using downriggersThey are the hardest fighting fish in the lake. The carp are next. The lake is just 5min from my house.Have a yearly pass that lets me fish all the regional parks 365 days a year.Comes with age.
