In all likelihood I will be heading out to the port tomorrow (first light) to get in some time on the water.  I am willing to target whatever will bite (salmon/stripers/bass/etc).  I have heard of people jigging for salmon/stripers at the locks as well as read many other past reports of areas to fish.  Has anyone been out there recently?  What do you think I should be targeting and where should I be fishing?  Also, all are welcome to join if you would like.  I will be in a yellow Jackson Cruise and my buddy will be in a Trident 13.  Thanks for the help.  I need to get some fish in the boat.  I have been on a salmon skunk streak as of late!

I caught a little salmon out there last week jigging the locks with a blue/silver gibbs minnow, and a guy in a float tube next to me caught a really nice striper with the same rig, of course I was there hours working for it, so it is a tough call to recommend that, or just to recommend soaking bait as the channel gets deeper near the docks... Good luck tomorrow, let us know how you do!! :smt003
Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

What is the best way to tie off at the locks?  Never having been there before I want to at least make sure that I bring the right equipment to do it assuming I head that way?

Well, if you feel like you have to tie off, grab one of those brush anchors/kelp anchors from Fishermans Wh*rehouse (they are $5-8) and got to Walmart and buy a cheap carabiner, connect the two with 2'-3' of paracord and call it good, otherwise there is no real current there, you get drifted by the wind a little, you don't really need to tie off.

Of course last time I DID tie off, the current came up while I was jawing with Wetbehindtheears, and pinned my rudder under a crossmember of the lock and I had to jump off to remount <LOL> so maybe I am just averse to tying off? :smt003

Thanks, that info helps a lot. I think we will avoid tying off. There is not supposed to be much wind tomorrow morning. Unless we get into an early fish or  two at the locks, I think we are going to end up trolling for stripers or fishing for bass so we can at least put a fish in the boat.

Good call, the tide peaks at about 8am, fish the daybreak and ebb and a little bit after in the water that will be blowing out of the locks, then hit stripes and bass, you should be able to hook something up! :smt003
