Eric - This post is very interesting for me since I will be picking up my Maraudor from Sean this week. I was wondering how the two cam cleats worked out for your anchoring set up? Did you find the rear one do-able? I like that its such a simple way to go as opposed to a trolly system, just wondering if you're happy with it. BTW, do you use a 1.5 or 3lb anchor in the Bay? Thanks for any advice. Tom

The cam cleat works just fine.  It's a little bit awkward getting the line through the back cleat but once you figure it out, it works just fine.  You have to look over your opposite shoulder to watch the line come across the stern as the current tightens up the anchor line, and give the line a tug when it goes over the cam cleat.  Works good enough and I too like the simplicity.

I use the 1.5 lb anchor but I've added about 3 lbs of lead to it.  I'd get the 3 lb anchor if I did it again but still add a couple pounds of lead to it, or else a mushroom style anchor which hold very well in the mud.

Eric - Thanks for the responce to the anchor cleat question. I just picked up my Marauder today and I'm wondering about the Scotty Gimbal Adapters, ( I've got two of them), they seem pretty loose and when lifting the rod out they don't always hold. Do you shim them to make them more firm? They seem like an awkward compromise unless they can be firmed up. Also, do you use all the flush mount holders on the boat or plug some of them, or just leave them open? Thanks for your input and experience. Tom

The gimbal mounts may wobble a bit, but they seem to stay put as long as I give them a whack when I put them in place to get them seated good.  I've never had a problem with one coming out and I've done quite a bit of trolling with the setup.

I use the forward most rodholders for the gimbal mount when trolling, but no need to plug the others... they're sealed (actually they are one piece so there is no cap to come loose inside).
