I used to have one as a kid and have been thinking about getting one, just out of nostalgia.  Ron Popeil is the man!  The Ronco Poket Fisherman was sweet, I'd keep it in my school backpack and catch bluegills on the way home from school when I was in Jr. High.

Spin Casting Outfit - This is the famous fishing pal that has thrilled generations! Double-flex rod is hinged into closed position when stored away. Simply unfold from this position until it snaps into fully extended position. Automatic Anti-Reverse prevents the handle from turning backwards. It's always ready for the fish to strike.

    * Convenient Design
    * Fits into Your Glove Compartment
    * Attaches to Your Belt
    * Mini Tackle Box - Contained in the handle are: hook, line and sinker.
    * Reel is Replaceable with reel cartridge.
    * Full Time Authority - Automatic Anti-Reverse prevents the handle from turning backwards.
    * It's always ready for the fish to strike.
    * It's the best gift you can give to any kid or adult!

Oh the memories...I caught a lot of fish on one of those.  I used to put it in my backpack, get on the BMX bike, and I was gone for the day.  Too cool, I haven't thought about one of those in a LONG time.

Bill: The "instant fisherman" just might have to go in the glove box of my Honda!

All right! Its time for an Instant Fisherman v. Pocket Fisherman Smackdown. Maybe at Bendo 2? :smt066 I'd order one, but my wife would have me comitted and there's no fishing there  :smt009 I still might try to tell her its a Sabiki rod.

I'm pretty sure that it is up in Ketchikan that they have a "Snoopy" rod Salmon derby.  So I think a Popeil Pocket Fisherman derby is an absolute must do.

They had a snoopy rod tournament at the La Jolla kelp a couple years back.

I forget who won with what fish however.
