Long time reader fist time poster-wanted to post pics from last weeks fishing out at SWS.

Paddled round the point about a mile from Still water beach.  Have been fishing there every week for last few saturdays/sundays and have pretty much stocked the freezer with Rockfish/Ling fillets so we decided we were only keeping 25"+ lings because it was 7am on a saturday and neither of us felt like filleting smalller rockfish!  This plan has backfired on us before but seemed to work out this time.  Got 4 good sized lings, all caught on shrimp flies, three from the same hole.

Great day out there, light offshore/cross shore wind and warm sun all day, fished from 8am-1pm.  Nothing on the yaks except rods, bait and a 12 pack...  The bat in the pic is 22" long for reference.  Saw Big jim out there diving too, seemed to have a good haul.

excuse the weird stance, torn the ligaments in my ankle 3 weeks ago playing soccer, hence why I have been fishing every weekend!

Shrimp flies are fairly easy.  Most attach the top of the shrimp fly rig to a snap swivel & tie a weight to the bottom.  Some rigs have a snap swivel at the bottom to allow you a fast way to change weight as water conditions change.

glad you remembered your NCKA handle!

Nice lings! and great report. I have never fished with a shrimp fly, whats the rigging like on that?

I often fish with a shrimpfly tied on with either a dropper loop or palamar knot (dropshot) and then rather than a weight use a swimbait or iron on the bottom.

Big Jim, great to meet you, it's also cool to get a better perspective of what the floor looks like with the video.  I've speared inside the cove but never that far out-

I actually forgot my login and handle/email, created a new one as my email has changed In the last couple years, figure fish tales makes more sense on ncka than mdowd....
