Just got back from my annual live aboard lobster dive trip to Cortez Banks and the Channel Islands early this morning.

Caught some Lobster, harvested some rock scallops and uni, speared some sheepshead and caught a bunch of mackerel.

A couple of the guys shot some yellowtails and bonitas and we had some fresh hamachi sashimi and bonita poki on board....YUM

Some of the trip highlights:

Saw a huge octopus in a large hole going after the same lobster I wanted. The lobster won escaping both of us.  :smt013

Had a sealion follow me for about 200 yards at 50 ft  depth on scuba.
He kept dive bombing me then pulling away within a foot from my face.
He finally mouthed my hood and tugged on it. So I jabbed him with my light and never returned.   :smt075

Ate an uni 60 ft. under the water. I had to bop a sheepshead with my knife when he tried to take it from me. Doesn't get any fresher than that guys.  :smt003

A lot of late night drinking and early diving with some old and new friends.  :beer3 :beer3 :beer3

Here are a few pics...the uni pasta I made for lunch today was the bomb.

The way I read it is that the sea lion wanted a little head and you gave it to him.  :smt044
Sounds like a great trip brother.
hope you saved some food for the next hook up.  :smt002
