This past weekend was soccer tourney time with my son in Sacramento, and it was a good opportunity to hookup with my bro Joe / bloodbath for a SUP deal.  Thank you, Joe!   :smt001

Got out OTW this morning to try my new toy and it was sweet.  Gliding across the water and feeling the workout from my shoulders, torso, hips and legs right down to my feet, I knew this new pursuit would provide a welcome challenge and important regimen of balance and tone that I need to carry forward.  I'd SUP'd a bit up at Tahoe the past few years when the extended family would rent one up at Angora Lake, but it wasn't til this year that I really developed an interest in pursuing a SUP of my own.  I look forward to developing my love of this new and different sport, and I know it'll not be replacing kayakfishing...  :smt001

As I spent a bit of time on the water at Cock Robin Island this morning, Joel was on my mind.  It occurred to me that he got in to SUP a few years ago - I didn't think much of it at the time other than admiring him for branching out and figuring I wasn't ready to make any changes.  I'd forgotten about his SUP activity until today, so remembering that as I took my next step deeper into SUP myself was a special moment.

Beyond that, I was aware of how Joel's energies on the water, on shore and on this board have been a special part of what NCKA is all about, and I was inspired by that.  It is those things that we do to inspire one another, and those opportunities to be inspired by others, that are the meat of our relationship here.

We are lucky to have known someone so full of inspiration and energy through the very end of his life.

Nice! Plan on getting a SUP next year too. Had a great time exploring some lakes with it this year. Can't wait to see how you rig it for fishing.

Nice Eric. Thise are great for catchin waves, you can really piss off the surfers catchin twice as many as them. When the swell settles to a reasonable size Ill grab my whitewater yak and lets hit the waves!

nice ride AK!
I see one or two in my future as well. I'm reluctant to let my wavewitch go, and the mrs won't let me sell "her" kayak, so I'll just need to make more room in the boathouse I guess :smt044
