Well my cousin Eric came down for a family wedding.  He says he see your NORCAL Kayak angler.com stickers up there in Santa Rosa, perhaps Colonet Sean!  I told him I would post a report on this site in his honor....  Set him up with a jig master #30 lb test, and gave him the following instructions....  If you here ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Pick up your rod, place your reel in gear and hang on.  Just after I gave him those instructions about the clicker, my reel's clicker chirped, then line peeled off fast.... Put it in gear.. BENDO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Nice fight, put the muscle on it, saw it color about 12 ft down, was stoked.  18lbs 5 ozs

My cousin Eric from Snta Rosa.. had a nice calico... wish I could have put him on the right kind...

He states he would like to move to San Diego... maybe not for the fishing so much, as for Graduate School...

Awesome fish!!!  Is that la jolla in the background?

Yes, La Jolla... It is hard not to fish there with an easy launch... decent fishing during the summer...  Here is today's carnage.  Wish my cousin could have been here for this...

Got to the launch 4am, saw about 10 others there setting up.  Mark Pierpont, and Dave Easton showed up shortly.  The plan was to head to the scripps pier and get bait.  Dave and I went to the Pier as Mark was setting up.  After loading up on some baits, Dave tells me, "lets throw some baits on for our troll back."  Shortly afterwards, about 100 ft west of the pier........zzz...zz..zzz..ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!   I thought, "freaking Sealion!!" little did I know I would be saying that later.  Fought this fish in the dark 5:30am for about 15 mins... see white color, thought..hmmm maybe a WSB.... then I see the fork...27 lbs 3 ozs... NICE!!!!!!!!   Done about 5:45am, but head out to meet with Mark...

Everyone was Bendo...  Lots of rats with a couple nicer mixed in, Mike Knott had a nice fish, thanks for the brew!

Ski with a phone call!

Lit up-1

Mike Knott

Dave H with a WSB!!!

A better shot of my fish...  27 lbs 3 ozs...

One released about 6 lbs...

First my firecracker release... Kind of cool, I stuck my camera underwater, and you can see it swim off...

Got another nice 20ish YT, stolen from a Sealion,

The Sealion Battle on Video...

I had to break them up because Putfile wouldn't upload the whole file.

Sealion Part I

Sealion Part II

http://media.putfile.com/Sealion-Part-II-

Sealion Part III

http://media.putfile.com/Sealion-III-16

It was hairy out there, more than these videos can reflect, the sealion was about 1 ft of my bow a couple of times. I could have bounced the YT on my deck twice, but I feared the sealion would jump on my yak...  Disclaimer do not try this at home!!

Chris

PS: excuse the cursing of my cameraman!!

Hi Yakers:

I was fishing with Dave H and got hit hard after Dave caught his WSB. Too bad I'm only have memories.
Dave and the rest of the Socal YakFisherman took me under their wing and, I can't wait to hook into a YT or WSB.

Hey Ernie,

I spoke to you as I was setting up 4AM in the dark, you were kind enough to offer a light, I am used to just setting up in the dark!  :smt003  I have heard of your signon name, didn't know that was you.

Sorry you didn't hook up, I was next to ya, when I heard ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! thought your were gonna go for a slay ride!

Sunday was good too, but not as good as Saturday.  Monday picked up again.  This fishing is very good, but not always like this, I went 6 months w/o a pelagic fish this year!!  :smt013

Here is Sunday's fish, and video, my old lady got...   http://media.putfile.com/La-Jolla-YT
