Polygamist Al came along on my elk hunt this week in the Book Cliffs, Utah. A cow call decided Bubba's future yesterday morning. He's a 6X5. They were rutting and he had about 20 cows with him. The last shot is of Alan expressing his joy over the thought of packing all that meat out of a deep, dark hole. Life is good. Wapiti tacos are on the Gimme Shelter menu in 2014. Later Brothers.............:smt003

It was a spectacular shot displaying advanced long distance firearm skills. NOT. It was a 35 yard shot sitting down off my knee. The entire scope was elk shoulder. Used a Ruger 270 with a 130 grain load. Spotted his cows sleeping under a tree just below the rim. Got him to respond to cow calls. 20 girlfriends but he wanted one more. Hiked 1 1/2 miles around to get down wind and they had no idea we were there. About six hours to get the meat out. Shot it at 9:00 am and got home at 1:00 am. Beat.

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!
