Launched out of wimpy's by 6:30 and landed this monster by 9:00 over by walnut grove. Only saw about a handful of people that landed any salmon. Game warden was out too looking at the color of their bottom teeth and their tail fin. Not sure why?
But it was a great experience when I hooked up this bad boy, I thought I had a snag and my buddy stopped the boat to start reeling in the other lines when the fished jumped out of the water horizontally which was amazing and the fight was on. It tooled of down current and my line was buzzing out line. We caught up and it came up by the boat i saw the back of it and it took off again.  The power this thing had was amazing and the experience of reeling in a fish of this size great. Finally after battling it for 10 minutes we landed it and fished somemore to not catch anything. Thought I would share this great opportunity i had of catching this beautiful and strong fish

Sorry, I don't know why it did that. Here is a monster my buddy caught. The small mouth bass had every hook (treble) in its mouth. Crazy hungry little fish

Nice fish

Sounds like the warden is checking to see if it's a silver

Nice, can't complain about a fish like that!

I agree with bluekayak: warden was probably checking the gums to see if your fish was a coho.  Though really, with the size and patterns on the back, you can tell immediately that it's a Chinook.  Do any coho even run up the Central Valley rivers?
