Early july was a roaster in lake county so I retreated from my usual bass haunts, loaded up a creek boat and the Tarpon and headed east, to Bridgeport. The eastern sierra is no secret to trout hunters and it is no secret that a stop at Kens Sporting Goods is a great place to stop for a little 411 as well as the place that I met up with some allies from SoCal.

The high water made it challenging to fish/paddle and there were alot of times when we would have to take out to fish some prime spots along the streams or just dump the boats all together and stomp. We fished Robinson,Buckeye, and Green, but our best day on streams was way over at Lee Vining Creek.
All of the pictures on the streams were taken with a disposable water proof camera so I cant post them yet.
Between days on the streams we fished the lakes. Big Virginia was a great day and many stock and hold over rainbows were taken there. Twin Lakes, especially the lower twin, was our favorite for this trip.
We consistantly took rainbows, even in the middle of the day, but it was at night when Mr. Brown showed up.
Almost all of our fish were taken on the red/gold Thomas Bouyant.
The pictured brown was my largest and made his escape prior to a better photo op, also unleashed a bit of carnage in my boat.
After 10 days fatigue started to set in and we decided to pack it up before someone got hurt. The socal crew invited me to come down to fish La Jolla for a few days and since I didnt have to work and I had never fished there I said sure. So I packed up and blasted home to dump the gear and boats, grabbed "Her", jumped on a plane and headed for SD. The allies had a boat and gear at the ready for me and my first LJ experience.
Took 6 of the calico types and 1 big, strong, and angry baracuda, while everyone around me had there hands full with yellow tail. Was still a great time and look forward to a return adventure.
Came home and slipped back in to the familiar waters of Clear Lake and wrestled with a few of the local bucketmouths and had that "good to be home feeling". But I must urge all who read to take the opportunity to experience some cool temperatures and hot trout fishing and go east.
