Hi,
I'm going to try to get into Muir Beach this week.  What general areas would you look for the various species, and in how deep water?  I really want salmon and halibut, but if they are not home, is this a good area to try for Rocks and lings north and south?  Is it anywhere as good as the Sonoma Coast for lings and rocks?  Is the best fishing close in or offshore?
Thanks

Isn't Muir beach closed? I thought I saw signs on the freeway about it being closed. I've never launched and fished there, so can't help you there

inside the cove for halibut, start just near the big rock at the exit, usually your drift will carry you south and in...across the sandy bottom.

live bait is best, drifting Popsicles work, so does bouncing a rainbow trout colored swimbait

salmon, right now, are scattered.  I've got them just outside the wash rock, but usually it is a mile or two off the point
