My friend has been bugging me to take him fishing at Lafayette Reservoir since they have boat rentals there.  Another buddy and his 3yr old son will be coming along as well so I was thinking starting them off with some bluegill if there are any while I cast around for some bass.  Thinking of going in 2 weeks.

I searched on here and only found 2 reports for Lafayette, one was a trout report and the other was FisHunter and a nice bass.

How is the fishing there typically?  Is it a tough place to fish?   Would like to keep them entertained hopefully, any info is appreciated.  Thanks!

Ive seen guys have good success soaking powerbait on the south side. Also seen guys pull up to the buoys at the tower and throw chicken liver pretty close to the tower and hook cat after cat. I like the ol' FisHunter, Pitchin' senkos in the tullies for bass. Never underestimate the power of the Firetiger shad rap for trout  :smt002. Cats can be prevalent around the shaded brush in there too.

Good luck dude!!!

LR and SPR suck IMO, because they don't allow dogs on boats. There are better places to fish too. Just my unbiased opinion.

This time of year may be a little warm for trout, they are deep, but the best luck I have had is the south cove(right turn from the boat docks). My favorite is either rainbow or chartreuse power bait drifted along the bottom for trout. They do plant catfish in the summer months though, and like fishadow said chicken liver by the tower. good luck!

The east cove is the best area of the lake. The wind is blocked so it's much more pond like as opposed to the middle of the lake where the wind blows all day.
Work the reeds and you will catch bluegill My favorite lake!
